Every player featured in the list tops the £10m barrier for their earnings in the last 12 months

Every player featured in the list tops the £10m barrier for their earnings in the last 12 months with former Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero also managing to break into the top 10 list.

Here are the top ten in reverse order:

10) Philip Lahm

In 10th comes Bayern Munich full-back Philip Lahm whose controversial book is sure to have aided the £11.9m he made last year.

9) Kaka

In 9th place comes Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, perhaps one of the nicest, most honest men in football today.

So whiter-than-white is the 2007 World Player of The Year that who can begrudge the £12.9m he earned in the last 12 months? Bless him.

8) Fernando Torres

To the surprise of many footy fans, Chelsea’s Fernando Torres comes in at eighth place. Yes, that is the same Torres who went over 24 hours without a goal to his name.

But hey, who cares when you have a total of £13.9m to play with this year? I could do a better job for a fraction of that money. In fact, somebody call the Chelsea scouting network now…

7) Yaya Toure

6) Kun Aguero

Seventh place is Yaya Toure who earned £14.7m in the last year whilst his Manchester City team-mate Sergio Aguero earned £15.7m. That’s all good, but where is that maiden Premier League trophy?

5) Wayne Rooney

How could ‘Wazza’ be omitted from the list when he earned £17.2m over the last 12 months? You see, holding your club and manager hostage helps. Just suggesting.

4) Samuel Eto’o

Having made a controversial move from Inter Milan to Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, Cameroon ace Samuel Eto’o comes in at fourth place with a cool £19.4m. Dirty oil money presumably helped him gather such a sum.

3) Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo comes in at third with £24.3m. Perhaps he uses some of that to further preen himself in front of very clean mirror.

2) David Beckham

Second is none other than ‘Golden Balls’ David Beckham who earned a cool £26.2m in the last 12 months. So that is a fattened buffet meal for wife Victoria guaranteed.

1) Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi comes in at first place with a whooping £27.5m. So not content with being the best player on planet Earth, he is also now the richest. Life isn’t fair.

Sigh…and I thought making £8-per-hour was good. God, why didn’t you make me a footballer?!
