Bulgari Hotels & Resorts announces the spring 2012 opening of its latest venture, the Bulgari Hotel, London.

Luxury brand Bulagri has its eyes set on conquering the top market segments of the lucrative hospitality industry. Following its first two hotel projects—the Bulgari Hotel, Milan in 2006 and the Bulgari Resort, Bali in 2008—Bulgari Hotels & Resorts announces the spring 2012 opening of its latest venture, the Bulgari Hotel, London.

“We are extremely proud to be able to open a Bulgari Hotel in the heart of London, something that we have wanted to do for a long time. This hotel—the first new build luxury hotel in London for over 40 years—will be another important element in the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts project. I’m convinced that it will be a further statement of our brand in the UK, which is a strategic market for luxury goods,” enthuses Bulgari Group chief executive Francesco Trapani.

Located in Knightsbridge, a posh district to the west of central London, the new Bulgari luxury hotel was designed by Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel & Partners, in collaboration with Squire & Partners. Design features of the development include silver, an homage to the brand's heritage as a silversmith. It also nods to Britain's history in silver hallmarking.

Sleek lines will be prominent in the soon-to-rise Bulgari Hotel and elements will reflect contemporary style, using sublime color combinations and a variety of exquisite materials, such as marbles and fine woods. A total of 85 rooms and suites will play host to discriminating guests. For a truly luxurious experience, seven Bulgari suites, each having an area of more than 200 square meters, will offer the most refined services and amenities.

“We are delighted to be working with Bulgari on this extremely exciting project. The hard work and dedication of everyone involved means we are firmly on track for the delivery in 2012 of an outstanding product which will raise the bar for standards of service and elegance within the Knightsbridge luxury hotel market while maintaining a modern approach to sustainability. The vision behind the Bulgari hotel and the attention to detail that characterizes its design and construction epitomize the hard work that has been put in to the project and I look forward to its opening in 2012,” adds Prime Development chairman Lord David Putnam.

The hotel's in-house restaurant and bar are fashioned to rival the best in Knightsbridge. Its spa and fitness center, housing the 25-meter indoor swimming pool, will be extensive and indulgent, taking up 2,000 square meters of space. The other halls, like the cinema and ballroom, are also touted to be destinations of choice within the district.

The construction incorporates environmental standards and will be built and maintained with sustainability in mind. The UK Property Awards already recognized this effort in its 2010 installment by awarding the development Best Hotel and Best Development.

Antonio Citterio states, “Constructing a new building in this part of London is an extraordinary achievement because the city tends to be extremely conservative due to its consolidated urban plan. The architectural style of the project reflects the rigor of the Bulgari Hotel in Milan: its classic, solid, contemporary style will consolidate the urban landscape in an area of London that is undergoing a profound transformation. In this sense, the use of Portland stone and bronze, which are typical materials of the architectural style of public buildings in London, and the meticulous facade design reveal a rigorous, modern approach to the theme.”
